The stated kerb weight of a vehicle often allows for a driver and a tank of fuel. Therefore the actual weight of the car on your trailer may be quite a bit less than the stated kerb weight.
It is perfectly legal for your load to overhang the rear end of your trailer. However, if the overhang is over 1m it should be marked with a bright flag. Go over 2m and you will require an illuminated marker board.
