Most comprehensive insurance policies will cover your trailer 3rd party whilst it is being towed by your car, but not all will. It is your responsibility to contact your insurers and check that you are fully covered before taking your trailer on the road.
It is far cheaper to buy breakdown cover in advance from one of the major providers (AA, RAC, Green Flag etc) than to have to pay for recovery when your car actually stops at the edge of the road. You can obtain breakdown cover for as little as £30.

A useful list of phone numbers and addresses for Recovery Operators in your neighbourhood. Many of these companies do not have a web presence so you will not find them in the Google search results. Simply scan down the list of names and addresses on the page, select a company near you and give them a ring!
