If you have broken down and do not have AA or RAC breakdown cover then simply select your town or county and you will be provided with a list of Recovery Operators in your area. Even better, write down a few numbers and keep them safe in your cars glovebox in case of an emergency!
Weston-super-Mare is a seaside resort set on the banks of the Bristol Channel. The town has a very large tidal range, the low tide mark being over 1 mile out, so it is not unusual to read stories of people and even cars being stranded and caught out by the tide. There is also the danger of Mud at low tide that can trap the unwary visitor. Until the beginning of the 19th century, Weston was a small hamlet of only a few homes. Then, during the Victorian age and with the coming of a rail link from Bristol, Weston became a popular seaside resort for holiday makers, the first hotel being built in 1808. Further holiday makers came in from the mining villages of South Wales using a paddle steamer to ferry them across the Bristol Channel. A long pier was constructed so the passengers could safely disembark.
