It is perfectly legal for your load to overhang the rear end of your trailer. However, if the overhang is over 1m it should be marked with a bright flag. Go over 2m and you will require an illuminated marker board.
All trailers should be fitted with a Break Away cable. This is a cable that connects from the towhitch to your trailers brakes. If the trailer becomes detached it will activat its brakes.

My P38 Range Rover tailgate no longer stays up when I lift the upper hatch. I have tried to remove the gas struts that hold the tailgate open but I cannot pull them off. I assume one of them has failed as the tailgate tries to stay up but just can't quite make it....View Entire Thread
