It is always important to check tyre pressures, but this becomes even more important with trailers. Low tyre pressures can make a trailer far more likely to weave and snake at lower speeds, check your pressures with a tyre pressure guage.
It is not unusual for the police or VOSA to pay particular attention to recovery vehicles and cars that are towing a heavy load. Keeping the entire rig legal ie, no cracks in the windscreen, good tyres, working lights and clean condition will help.
I have a T4 VW Transporter which has just sprung a serious leak from a power steering high pressure hose.
