If you are using a passenger car with a GVW of less than 3.5 Tonnes then the maximum length of the trailer you can tow is 7m excluding the coupling a drawbar. You are unlikely to exceed this except in the most unusual circumstances.
When towing with a normal passenger car in the UK the maximum permissible width for a trailer is 2.3 meters. However, the load attached to the trailer can overhang the sides by up to 30cm on each side giving a total width of 2.9m.
